Uganda’s slim win over South Sudan ensures perfection in Group Stage
The Uganda U20 National Team, the Hippos registered a narrow 1-0 win over South Sudan at the ongoing Africa Games in Ghana on Friday.
Wakiso Giants FC's Apollo Kagogwe struck from distance for the only goal of the game in 74th minute, ensuring that the Uganda Hippos finished their group stage games perfectly.

Coming into Friday’s encounter, Morley Byekwaso’s charges had already booked their spot in the semifinals thanks to victories against Nigeria and Senegal, 2-1 and 1-0, respectively.
Usama Arafat and Ivan Irinimbabazi scored against Nigeria, whereas Allan Oyirwoth was on target against Senegal.
With a placed in the last four earned in the second game, Byekwaso ran a couple of changes in his starting lineup with Express FC’s Alpha Thierry Ssali and Kitara FC’s Shafiq Magogo notable starters against South Sudan.
They topped Group B with maximum points, nine, followed by Senegal on six points, who edged Nigeria 3-2 on the same day.
The Flying Eagles and South Sudan bowed out in the third and fourth place on three points and none, respectively.
In the semifinals, Uganda will face Congo, who finished second in Group A, while Senegal will battle hosts and Group A leaders Ghana.
