Meanwhile, attacking midfielder Karim Watambala scored a brace past the hapless Purple Sharks to make it three goals for him this season.
On the evening, after early dominance, Vipers grabbed a 14th-minute lead through a Watambala stinging shot to the top right corner, following a layoff from Abdu Lumala.

Two minutes later, it should have been 2-0 for the Venoms, but Wakiso Giants' goalkeeper Bashir Ssekagya dived to thwart a Yunus Sentamu header after a brilliant Lumala cross.
Wakiso nearly found the leveller in the 34th minute, but Vipers' custodian Jack Komakech stood large to save a Samson Andrew Kigozi shot.

Six minutes later though, in exquisite fashion, from the center, Sentamu looped Ssekagya to make it 2-0 and send the crowds into a frenzy.
It could easily have been 3-0 in the 74th minute, but the crossbar denied Sentamu, with the goalkeeper beaten before Lawal struck into the side-netting.
