Wani, Toha among UPL sextet summoned to steady South Sudan’s ship

South Sudan national team coach Stefano Cusin has summoned seven Ugandan-based players to his squad ahead of their matchday three and four double-headers against Congo in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Group G qualifiers.

South Sudan is risking early exit after failing to win any of their two opening games losing to Gambia 1-0 and Mali 3-1.

Among the players summoned include BUL FC’s left back-cum-winger Ivan Wani, Arua Hill’s captain Rashid Toha and his teammate Geriga Atendele.

Others are Bright Stars striker Emmanuel Loki, Joseph Dhata from Express and Norman Mulumba from Calvary in the FUFA Big League.

Acholi Province’s Tito Okello who plays for Paykan in Iran has also been included in the squad.

And like Uganda Cranes, the Bright Stars are forced to play their home games away from Juba.

They travel to Brazzaville on March 23rd before hosting the return leg four days later in Dar es Salaam Tanzania.
