Watch Ekong and Ronaldo exchange jerseys after battle in Saudi Arabia

Nigerian defender and captain of the Super Eagles has gone viral for his involvement with legendary Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ekong and Ronaldo were both in action as Al-Nassr defeated Al-Kholood 2-0 in a Saudi Arabia league clash on September 15, 2025.

Both Ronaldo and Ekong, as captains led their respective team on to the pitch and featured for the full 90 minutes of the match.

Sadio Mane and Inigo Martinez scored the goals in the second half that secured the victory for Al-Nassr.

For Ekong, this game was crucial, especially in the wake of criticism he faced for an own goal during the Super Eagles of Nigeria's 1-1 draw against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

Following the match, Ronaldo and Ekong exchanged jerseys in the tunnel after showing mutual respect and shaking hands.

The Nigerian captain took to his official social media platform to post photos from the game including his duel with Ronaldo.

Ekong is not the only Nigerian player to have swapped jerseys with Ronaldo while playing in Saudi Arabia.

Nigerian striker Saviour Godwin asked Ronaldo for his jersey and the Portuguese star obliged.
