Watch: Vipers' Brazilian, Giancarlo almost tears the net with stunning freekick

Vipers SC managed a narrow 1-0 victory over Maroons FC in the classification match in the FUFA Super 8, at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende.

New Brazilian signing Giancarlo Lopez Rodriguez struck the sole goal for the Venoms against the Prison Warders on Monday.

He struck a sumptuous first half free-kick, a thunderbolt of a shot to the top right corner, to send the home crowd in loud cheers.

He is a valuable set piece asset as he almost scored in similar fashion against AS Kigali in an international friendly at Kitende over a week back, only to be denied by an exquisite save.

The goal will also shut a few critics, who have since his arrival doubted his ability and questioned his signing.

The victory represents the first competitive win for Vipers this season under new coach Leonard Martins Neiva.

Vipers will wait to face one of Soltilo Bright Stars FC or Wakiso Giants FC in the battle for fourth and fifth in the preseason tournament.
