‘We came up short’- Anthony Joshua explains why he didn't take his promoter's advice
At Wembley, AJ was sent to the ground by a devastating blow from his British opponent Dubois in the fifth round.
The 34-year-old had already been knocked down three times in the space of four rounds before the final blow.
Joshua was denied the opportunity to win the heavyweight title three times as a result of the defeat; Dubois kept the IBF world title.
AJ explains reason
Joshua defied promoter Eddie Hearn's advice and held a brief news conference after the fight.
According to the Sun, Joshua said after his loss to Dubois, "Firstly, always walk with your head high.
“We took a shot at success and we came up short unfortunately. We rolled the dice man, for the third time.
"That's 13 world title fights, not every one has been successful, but every one has been fun and entertaining.
"We're trying to create history for British boxing and I think we're doing that and also I appreciate all the press and media - the fans aren't here but I thank them through you."
Meanwhile, Nigerian fans have begged the British boxer to consider retirement after Daniel Dubois knockout.
