We want to keep winning – Chisano on Heathens triumph in the Kyadondo 7s Circuit

Heathens Rugby Football Club became the first side to organize and win a sevens circuit at the ongoing Nile Special Rugby 7s Series 2023.

The yellow machine beat defending rugby league champions Stanbic Black Pirates 17-12 in a pulsating men's main cup final on Sunday in the Kyadondo 7s at the Kyadondo rugby grounds.

Lock Joachim Chisano, who played a pivotal role in his side claiming their home circuit, said as a team that the Kyadondo 7's circuit win would motivate them to continue winning the remaining courses.

"It's a great feeling to win our circuit at home, we had to work hard, and now we're champions; I am so happy for everyone on the team," Chisano revealed in the post-game interview.

"This win should motivate us most, especially for the remaining circuits, we want to win all of them, and I believe we can," he added.

Malcom Okello touched down twice and converted once, while the veteran Lawrence Ssebuliba turned back the clock with a beautiful run on the left flank before touching down.

For the visitors on the day, Stephen Alur and Sydney Gongodyo crossed the white line while the circuit MVP, Jonas Kamiza, scored one conversion.

The win took the Heathens to 84 points, but they remain in third place while Kobs in second position are on 89 points.

The Pirates lead the pack on 93 points as the circuit heads to Tororo for the sixth event slated for 19th to 20th August.
