Why Allan Okello should 'definitely' make for Vipers against URA

It's now nearly three weeks since Vipers SC star playmaker Allan Okello returned to training from his ACL rehabilitation.

However, it's now two months since he joined the Venoms after ending his contract with Algeria's Paradou AC, having spent last season at boyhood club KCCA FC on loan.

With Vipers welcoming URA FC at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende later today, Okello is poised to make his debut in front of a crowd where he is a darling.

Okello, will more or less start, especially with the absence of Bright Anukani, who has been ruled out of the game following his late return from national team engagements.

Anukani is not the only forward-thinking player ruled out, with each of Yunus Sentamu and Milton Karisa all sidelined after their late return from the Uganda Cranes.

Anukani, Sentamu and Karisa's absence leaves three positions where Okello can operate as they take on the bogey Tax Collectors.

Meanwhile, it's Anukani's place, just behind the forward-line where Okello's attributes suit the most.

But, it will be interesting to see where head coach Leonard Martins Neiva will deploy him, given the availability of other attackers in Abubakar Lawal, Abdu Lumala, Erick Kambale and Mohamed Salem Ekbad.

Given the investment in the player, absences, the magnitude of the game and the fact that Vipers are coming off the back of defeat (3-1 to KCCA), Okello should definitely make the first eleven.

Last season with KCCA, Okello managed eight assists and six goals, underlining his undoubted threat with the goal in sight.
