Youngster Alpha Thierry Ssali sat out Express FC's resounding 5-2 win over NEC FC on Thursday at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

It was the first time all season that the son to celebrated musician Bebe Cool didn't play for Express, raising quite a number of eyebrows.

However, the Red Eagles revealed that the attacker was ill after sustaining malaria, thus withdrawing from the team towards the game.

"Alpha Ssali out of today's game after undergoing a late malaria taste," Express confirmed on their X handle.

Ssali has played eleven games so far in his first season in the top flight, scoring two goals and assisting one.

In each of the games, he has been named in the first in the first eleven, establishing himself as an important figure and mainstay in the team.

Meanwhile, on the triumphant evening, braces from Emmanuel Wasswa and Isaac Wagoina, plus one from Steven Ssenfuma, handed Express the victory on enemy territory.

On the other hand, Cromwell Rwothomio and Tony Kiberu netted for the Bugolobi-based side on an evening to forget.
