The 22-year-old Slovenian, who will sign a contract until June 2030, was heavily linked with Arsenal early in the summer, where he was considered Mikel Arteta’s top striker target.

However, those talks collapsed, and Newcastle, desperate for a striker after seeing several targets join other clubs, made a late but futile move to bring him to St James’ Park.

Speaking about his choice, Seško emphasized United’s vision and potential.

“The history of Manchester United is obviously very special, but what really excites me is the future,” he said.

“When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is in place for this team to continue to grow and compete for the biggest trophies again soon.”

Sesko ends United's chase for a high-level striker and now casts doubts on the future of Rasmus Hojlund, who has endured a disappointing spell since arriving from Atalanta two years ago.

The Red Devils are also reportedly in talks to sign Brighton's 21-year-old midfielder Carlos Baleba, who is seen as the ideal addition to Ruben Amorim's midfield.
