As Napoli undergo a summer rebuild, Lang’s glowing praise of Conte’s methods suggests players leaving, such as Victor Osimhen, could be missing out on something spectacular.

Lang praises Conte’s methods and intensity

Speaking to Radio CRC, the Dutch international described his early experience with Conte as “great,” stressing how the former Premier League-winning manager is already reshaping his mentality and performance standards.

“I like stepping out of my comfort zone. In the Netherlands, the intensity was lower,” Lang said, speaking on the contrast between his former environment and Napoli’s rigorous setup.

He added, “I think this kind of work is exactly what you need to become a better, more complete and stronger player.”

Lang, who joined from PSV after a season tallying 11 goals and 10 assists in the Eredivisie, also hinted at a broader ambition to excite fans and lead the attack. “I want everyone to enjoy themselves when I have the ball... that’s my goal.”

Lang remains confident amidst mixed pre-season start

Lang featured in Napoli’s 2-0 pre-season loss to Serie C side Arezzo, where he conceded a penalty in the first half.

“That’s what happens when a winger defends! It can happen,” he said, brushing off the moment with humour.

Despite the defeat, the winger remained optimistic, citing good adaptation and high training levels. “We created lots of chances… it was the first time we all played together, so it’s fine for now.”

Lang will be hoping that working with a renowned winner like Antonio Conte will refine the aspects of his game that are rusty, such as his defending.
