Bobi Wine's son Solomon Kampala reveals why he left swimming for running (track)

Kampala is now a 200m runner who also scooped bronze in the Ultimate Race Nights in Dubai in March this year after running 23.09 seconds, which is his personal best to date.

Growing up in his young juvenile years, Solomon Kampala seemed destined for a career as a swimmer, and many thought he would take the route.

With time, the son of politician and musician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine, has evolved into track athletics.

Kampala is now a runner who is getting nurtured in Texas, United States of America.

During a live chat on Tiktok over the weekend, the 18-year-old came out to make it public knowledge on why he ditched swimming.

"I used to swim, but I was not very good, and I used to lose breath very quickly," Kampala disclosed.

He further revealed playing football as a toddler; "I played soccer when I was seven years old, but after that, I never played any sport competitively."

Kampala is now a 200m runner who also scooped bronze in the Ultimate Race Nights in Dubai in March this year after running 23.09 seconds, which is his personal best to date.

"I’ve been running for almost a year. I competed for the first time in March 2023 in Dubai; that was my first actual competition."

In April last year, in the national athletics trials, Kampala missed out on a spot in the national team going to the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
