Kenya Is My Second Home: Ronald Rugumayo Reflects on His Career-Defining Golf Journey
Ugandan golfer Ronald Rugumayo calls Kenya his second home, crediting the country for playing a pivotal role in shaping his professional golfing career.
“I knew last year I ran a really good time in the 2000m steeple, and I knew I had more potential in the 3000m, but there wasn’t a race. It was a good race, good conditions and a good field, and I knew today was a big opportunity, and I focused on getting a good time,” Veerle Bakker said after the race.
“I gave everything I had, and I knew I was really close to the national record, and that was an extra boost, and sometimes you have to leave something to fight for in the next race.”
Going forward, she intends to compete at the European Team Championships and hopefully get selected for highly-ranked races like the Diamond League Meetings and World Athletics Gold Tour events.
Meanwhile, Peruth Chemutai goes back home a satisfied woman with the hope of maintaining that form until the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
