The 2024 National Basketball League tipoff delivered beyond expectations, with mouthwatering action in both the men and women's categories on Friday.

The day's only disappointment came with YMCA L Hamsters failing to show up for the tie against UPDF L Hawks.

With the game forfeited, UPDF L Hawks received a 20-0 walkover from the League Secretariat.

The other ladies' game had KIU Rangers edge a close clash with JT L Jaguars 61-57.

On the other hand, the first men's game was a newbie's affair with the JT Jaguars, walking home comfortably as 70-53 victors.

In the hugely awaited "Game of the Day," Namuwongo Blazers managed a narrow 63-59 victory over the KIU Titans.

KIU Titans old boys Innocent Ochera, and Joseph Chuma stood out on the day with superb individual performances to spur Nam Blazers to the win.

Ochera managed an impressive 21 points, while Chuma put up a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds on an eventful evening.
