The stage is set for a thrilling encounter as two of the top teams in the National Basketball League from last season, Namuwongo Blazers and UCU Canons, lock horns on Friday.

With both teams having undergone major squad changes in the off-season, the game promises to be an exciting clash of styles and strategies.

Namuwongo Blazers began their campaign on a high note with a morale-boosting win over JKL Dolphins, showcasing their strength in the paint.

However, they will have to be wary of UCU's Peter Sifuma, who had a stellar game with 18 rebounds in their first match against the Ndejje Angels.

On the other hand, UCU Canons suffered a setback in their opening game, losing to the Ndejje Angels, 64- 55 in a game characterized by turnovers.

Coach Nicholas Natuhereza has identified ball control as an area his team needs to improve upon, and the Canons will be looking to rectify this against the Blazers.

In their head-to-head record, the Blazers have won two of their last three encounters against the Canons, with their last meeting resulting in a narrow 64-61 victory at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

Both teams will also be looking to improve their three-point shooting, with the Canons shooting 30% from beyond the arc and the Blazers shooting 21.1%.

With the City Oilers setting the pace in the league, a win for either side in this match could prove crucial in their quest to catch up and establish themselves as the best of the rest.

The game promises to be a thrilling encounter and one that fans will not want to miss.
