Alhassan Yusuf was a second half substitute while Chidera Ejuke continued his fine form as a starter for Royal Antwerp.

Newly invited Super Eagles midfielder Alhassan Yusuf was one of the heroes as Royal Antwerp avoided defeat at home against Westerlo.

Yusuf proved to be a super-sub as he came off the bench to assist the decisive equaliser as Antwerp played out a 2-2 draw against Westerlo, with compatriot Chidera Ejuke also brilliant on Saturday.

While Ejuke was rewarded with another starting berth for his brilliant run of form, Alhassan started the game from the bench.

Antwerp took a first-half lead when Arbnor Muja’s goal in added time gave them a 1-0 lead at the break.

However, two goals in six minutes from Westerlo’s second half substitute, Lucas Stassin, completely turned things around for the visitors.

With five minutes left to play, Alhassan set up defender Toby Alderweireld for the decisive leveller to force a share of the spoils.

Alhassan, 23, who has earned a place in the AFCON2023 provisional squad, showed why Jose Peseiro named him in the squad by making a great impact with his only chance of the game.

He completed 100% of his dribbles, and 100% of his crosses in just 27 minutes of action and grabbed his second assists.

Meanwhile, Alhassan was not the only Nigerian on the pitch, compatriots, Ejuke, was impressive again for Antwerp.

The 25-year-old turned out another clutch performance as he finished with the most dribbles (4), the most fouled player and also won the most duels in the game.
