Joining and making an immediate impact at the record league champions, SC Villa, especially for a top-flight newcomer like Arnold Odong, is a momentous achievement.

Odong, a centre-back and one of the fresh faces brought in to fill the void left by former captain Gift Fred—who transferred to Tanzanian titans Young Africans SC in June 2023—has notably hit the ground running, scoring in consecutive games, a feat he relishes.

“I am pleased with our performance today against NEC FC and even more thrilled to receive the Man of the Match award, but it was a collective effort,” remarked Odong.

“Given our challenging start to the campaign, this victory serves as immense motivation. Scoring my second goal for the club propels me to maintain high performance in the upcoming matches.”

Odong initiated his scoring journey by securing Dushan Stojanovic’s side their initial point of the season against Maroons FC, delivering the equalizer in the 1-1 draw on matchday two at Luzira Prisons grounds.

This colossal defender, a former Masaza Cup participant, continued his streak, heading in Ivan Bogere’s freekick to extend Villa’s lead to 3-0 against NEC FC on Friday.

Having netted five goals in their first three matches, Arnold Odong stands as SC Villa’s leading scorer.

With its history of championships, the team is slated to face the defending champions Vipers SC at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende on 20th October, promising an exciting encounter.
