Awoniy was in his bag again as Nottingham Forest ended their Premier League season with an impressive 1-1 draw at Selhurst  Park.

Taiwo Awoniyi reached an impressive milestone on Sunday evening after scoring for Nottingham Forest in their 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace in the final round of the 2022/2023 Premier League season.

Awoniyi was in clutch form for Nottingham Forest at the business end of the campaign, playing a key role in their Premier League survival.

Awoniyi opened the scoring for Steve Cooper’s men with a brilliant finish before Will Hughes rescued a point for the home side in the 66th minute.

It was the Super Eagles star’s tenth league goal in the Premier League- the first Nigerian to hit double figures in his first year in the top flight since Odion Ighalo.

Awoniyi joins Andrew Johnson's list

Of his ten goals, eight of those put Forest 1-0 up, the first player to put a newly-promoted side 1-0 up eight times since Andrew Johnson did the same nine times in the 2004/2005 season.

Awoniyi will now hope to improve on his number when Forest kick off another season in the Premier League in August.

The Nigerian joined the Tricky Trees from Union Berlin for a then club-record fee of €20.50m last summer. Awoniyi still has four years left on his contract at City Ground.
