Sane and Gnabry could be up for sale in the next window
The German duo of Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry could soon find themselves out of Bayern Munich after a report suggested that the Bayern hierarchy are not pleased with their recent performances.
The issue with the pair seems to be their huge salaries, which do not reflect the bit-part role that they have been reduced to at the club.
Sane and Gnabry struggle for form
The pair have combined for just four goals in the Bundesliga since the new year, and it is believed that Bayern Munich are not going to condone both players and their bad form when they might have options in the squad.
Sane and Gnabry have started to see their game time reduce as Bayern Munich manager, Julian Nagelsmann tinkers with the formation, often leaving one or both of them out of the starting lineup.
They also have to contend with the form of Kingsley Coman, the loan signing of Joao Cancelo, who is capable of playing as a winger, and the return to fitness of Senegalese forward Sadio Mane, who is also in direct competition with Sane and Gnabry for places.
Bayern Munich might raise Cancelo fee with Sane and Gnabry sale
Despite their importance in the team waning, Sane and Gnabry are still among the highest-paid players in Bayern Munich, and this is believed to be causing concern for the club’s staff.
Sane has a contract until 2025 after signing from Manchester City, while Gnabry has a contract until 2026 after joining from Werder Bremen via a Hoffenheim loan in 2018.
It might prove difficult to offload both players in the same window, but Bayern might be willing to try anyway. If they are successful, they could reinvest the money saved into the squad, especially with a €70 million clause in Joao Cancelo’s loan agreement should Bayern Munich want to make the move permanent.
