Cash-strapped Busoga United could find themselves in hot water yet again after failing to travel and honour their Uganda Cup round of 64 clash against JLOS FC in Kitgum.

The match that was slated for Friday did not take place with the club administration communicating that the team’s shuttle broke down.

“The team bus broke down around Matugga,” the club’s chief executive officer Derrick Lule told Pulse Sports as he shared some pictures from the alleged scene.

However, in an interesting turn of events, a member of the playing staff confirmed that the team had no money to travel and were therefore ordered to take a break until Monday.

“The truth is that we didn’t travel,” the player who sought anonymity for obvious reasons confirmed to this website.

“We gathered up on Thursday at the team’s camp but found neither the head coaches nor administrators.

One of the trainers told us to go back and stay at home until Monday when we resume duty,” he added.

The rules further warn that “Any club in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Division Leagues that does not participate in this competition shall be liable for disciplinary action.”

The disciplinary actions include monetary fines and future exclusion from the competition and tougher ones like deduction of league points, suspension from the respective league and demotion to lower leagues.

The club has already fallen on the wrong side of the law when their fans caused an abandonment of their home league fixture against express that led to a deduction of three points and goals from their count this season.

The team resumes league duties on Thursday against Maroons at the Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru before travelling to the North to play Blacks Power.
