How much have Chelsea paid to agents in the last year?
The West London club are struggling for performances and results, but the English FA’s recent disclosure divulged the figures behind the Blues’ continued splurge.
The information showed that a net total spend of £409,592,929 was made by the current Premier League sides from February 2023 to February 2024. Of that total, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital forked out £75,140,524, with Manchester City’s £60,626,025 coming second.
Both sides were clear of the third-highest spenders Manchester United by a distance as the Red Devils paid £34,054,001 between February 2023 and this year. Chelsea’s major signings in that period were Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer, while Josko Gvardiol, Mateo Kovacic, Jeremy Doku and Matheus Nunes were signed by last season’s treble winners.

How have Chelsea’s signings within that period fared?
Mauricio Pochettino was backed in the summer window with acquisitions to follow the previous summer and winter transfer markets under the new Chelsea ownership.
While Palmer and Malo Gusto have been an undoubted success, doubts persist about Caicedo, Jackson and Axel Disasi who have had mixed debut seasons in West London. Nkunku and Lavia have had injury-hit campaigns in year one, with the former Southampton midfielder making only one substitute appearance against Crystal Palace in December before sustaining a season-ending hamstring issue.
Nkunku was tipped to carry Chelsea’s goalscoring burden this term, but the forward has not built on a decent-to-good pre-season, suffering non-stop injuries, with Pochettino recently stating that the France international may not play again in 2023-24.

Other arrivals like Robert Sanchez and Lesley Ugochukwu have had mixed campaigns in the capital, and goalkeeper and midfield man have had extended spells on the sidelines.
What comes next for Chelsea?
The Blues are not out of the continental picture, with only six points separating them from Newcastle United occupying sixth having played two games fewer than the Magpies at the time of writing.
Pochettino's men could close that gap when they take on Everton at Stamford Bridge on Monday night, a few days before a daunting FA Cup semi-final clash against Man City at Wembley Stadium.
