The Angola national football team has received lavish rewards and promises following their triumphant win over Namibia in the Round of 16 at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

After a stunning 3-0 victory over Namibia, the Angola national football team not only secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations but also attracted a cascade of rewards and promises from prominent national companies.

The squad's exceptional performance in Côte d'Ivoire has set the stage for a historic showdown with Nigeria on Friday as Angola dares to dream of reaching the semi-finals for the second time in history.

In recognition of their triumph, the Angolan Investment Bank (BAI) has announced a generous reward, promising each player and team member $6,000 (Angolan Kwanza 5 million- Ksh974,000).

"The commitment to our national heroes is unwavering. Their victory resonates with every Angolan, and this is our gesture of gratitude," stated BAI's President, Mario Alberto Barber, in a heartfelt phone conversation with national team captain Fredy.

The funds are scheduled to be deposited in the players' accounts promptly by Monday.

Further adding to the celebratory atmosphere, Aguinaldo Jaime, Chairman of the telecommunications giant UNITEL, assured the players and coaching staff of cutting-edge iPhone 15s, accompanied by a year of free calls, SMS, and internet.

In an unprecedented move, the Angolan Diamond Trading Company (SODIAM) has raised the stakes with a dazzling promise.

"Should our team reach the final, a reward of $250,000 (equivalent to Ksh 40.3 million) awaits them. It's a testament to our belief in their ability and the joy they've brought to our nation," Angola Press Agency reported.

Angola's journey in the tournament has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Despite facing a challenging match against Namibia, where both teams had players sent off in the first half, Angola's determination shone through.

Goalkeeper Neblu's early red card and Namibia defender Lubeni Haukongo's dismissal before the break set a tense backdrop.

However, Dala Gelson's impressive first-half brace and Mabululu's subsequent goal sealed a decisive victory, propelling Angola into the quarter-finals for the first time since their memorable 2008 semi-final run.
