Two of the finest goalkeepers in African history, Dennis Onyango and Kennedy Mweene, have featured for Mamelodi Sundowns and continue to do so in respective roles.

After being teammates for years, Mweene got elevated to the role of Masandawana goalkeeping coach after hanging his gloves months back.

Meanwhile, despite falling back in the pecking order to Ronwen Williams, Onyango is still active and continues to win huge with the club, with his latest triumph being the African Football League title.

"I've played with Kennedy Mweene, and we've shared many things; the dressing room, jerseys, matches and the friendship has been very good," Onyango told Pulse Sports Uganda in an interview.

"It's still good up to this moment because he is my coach, and I have to respect that; he is trying to improve where I'm not that good because everyone has weaknesses, and he knows me better," he added.

"He is also trying to improve Ronwen (Williams) and Pieterse (Reyaad) because he knows what they can do, and he has been in that space not so long ago."

Mweene played for Sundowns for ten years while Onyango is in his 12th year with the pair playing together for a decade.

"But, what's important for me is to give him the respect that he deserves as a coach because he has given everything to the club, and they've rewarded him with the job."

"So that's amazing, and it shows that when you do well, they give you more opportunities, so for me, it's very important to keep that relationship going regardless of who he is right now; we still have to maintain the friendship and respect."

Together, the two won multiple accolades and trophies, including seven Premier Soccer Leagues, a CAF Champions League, a CAF Super Cup and various domestic titles.
