Record StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa has unveiled Serbian coach Dusan Stojanovic as their new head coach.
Stojanovic steps in to fill the void left by Jackson Magera, whose contract with the club expired last week, with the club choosing not to retain him.
Accompanied by his assistant Morley Byekwaso, Stojanovic was officially introduced at SC Villa's head offices in the Industrial Area of Kampala.
The Serbian coach has signed a two-year contract, while Byekwaso, who will also take on the role of head of youth development, has inked a three-year deal.
Addressing the media during the press conference, Stojanovic expressed his enthusiasm for the new role and outlined his vision for the team.
"The club, SC Villa, needs to be the best on the field in terms of how we play and also score a lot of goals," said Stojanovic.
He emphasized the importance of evaluating the current players and building his plan accordingly.
Recognizing SC Villa's rich history of success, Stojanovic aims to build on that legacy and further the accomplishments of the club's previous coaches.
“In terms of my style and plan, I need to look at the players that I have, and then from them I will draw up my plan,” Stojanovic added.
“I am aware Villa is a top club, and very successful over the years. So I am here to build on that success, I also want to advance the work accomplished by the previous coaches,” Stojanovic said.
Interestingly, it is believed that Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic played a pivotal role in bringing Stojanovic to SC Villa.
The two coaches share not only a nationality but also a working history. They previously collaborated at Egypt's Zamalek, with Micho serving as the head coach and Stojanovic as his assistant from 2019 to 2020.
SC Villa fans are eager to see the impact of Stojanovic's arrival and the fresh ideas he brings to the club.
With his experience and the backing of the coaching staff, the hope is that SC Villa will regain its winning form and reclaim its position among the top teams in Ugandan football.
