Fans have called for Victor Osimhen to be taken off penalty duties for Napoli after the Super Eagles star's latest miss

Victor Osimhen's missed penalty during Napoli's clash against Juventus has sparked outrage among fans, with many questioning his reliability in crucial moments.

In a crucial moment during Napoli's match against Juventus, Victor Osimhen missed the chance to give his team the lead. With the score tied at 1-1 in the 88th minute, Napoli was awarded a penalty after Osimhen was fouled. However, his spot-kick was saved by Wojciech Szczesny, denying Napoli the opportunity to take the lead directly from the penalty spot.

Fortunately for Napoli, Giacomo Raspadori was on hand to score the rebound, earning the Partenopei a 2-1 victory over Juventus.

Social Media Backlash

The missed penalty adds to Osimhen's inconsistent record from the spot. Remarkably, Osimhen has missed as many penalties (4) for Napoli as he has scored (4). This lack of reliability in crucial moments has raised concerns among fans about Osimhen's suitability for penalty duties.

Following Osimhen's latest penalty miss, fans took to social media platforms, particularly X, to express their frustration and disappointment.

Many questioned the decision to continue entrusting Osimhen with penalty responsibilities given his unreliable track record. Some fans even called for Osimhen to be relieved of penalty duties altogether in light of his recent performance.

Calls for Change

The outcry from fans highlights a growing sentiment within the Napoli supporter base regarding Osimhen's role in penalty situations. With doubts persisting over his ability to deliver under pressure, fans are calling for a reassessment of Napoli's penalty-taking strategy and the consideration of alternative options to Osimhen.

As Napoli pursues their objectives for the season, Osimhen's penalty miss and the subsequent fan backlash raise questions about the team's approach to key moments in matches and it would certainly be interesting to see whether the Partenopei will stick with the Super Eagles star as their first-choice penalty taker going forward.
