The FUFA Technical Centre has previously hosted the CECAFA senior and junior competitions as well as Uganda Cranes international friendly matches against Gabon and Cameroon ahead of the 2016 Africa Nations Championship.

The FUFA president Moses Magogo has revealed that the federation is in plans to upgrade the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru to international standards.

The facility received a facelift in preparations for the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers that are going on in Njeru and Lugogo.

Among the improvements include an extension of the dressing rooms, a stand built on the upper side and a new parking area for the teams and fans.

Magogo has said that the federation is looking to improve the facility to be able to host a number of high-profile matches and tournaments.

“We’ve added the dressing rooms and separated them for the team, put up a shelter on one side and general renovation,” Magogo talked about the ongoing works at the centre.

He explained that FUFA will channel the money that would otherwise be used to hire facilities towards the development as they aim to host international tournaments and matches.

“Our objective is to convert it to an international stadium that can host matches; we understand that the category A matches for Uganda cranes are a bit higher, but as long as CAF clears us to host, we’ll always do that.

“We’ll try to use the money that we would’ve spent on hiring facilities to improve the centre,” he added.

The FUFA Technical Centre has previously hosted the CECAFA senior and junior competitions as well as Uganda Cranes international friendly matches against Gabon and Cameroon ahead of the 2016 Africa Nations Championship.

The facility hosts BUL FC’s matches in the StarTimes Premier League.
