The 21-year-old made the comments during an interview in Nigeria as he was spotted at the Maracana Stadium in Ijegunle, Lagos, during a children’s party.

Per a post from Phatil, the Dortmund forward was asked about his favourite Nigerian or African player and the German youngster was straightforward with his reply.

"I'll say the best (Nigerian and African) player for me is Victor Osimhen because he plays good in his league and also in the Champions League, he does both very good so he's the best for me," Adeyemi stated.

Osimhen, who currently plays for Serie A club, Napoli, has become an icon at the club following an excellent performance since he joined the team from Naples.

The 24-year-old had a season to forget last season when he led Napoli to a first Serie A title in over 30 years, with the Nigerian scoring 26 goals.

He became the first African to be named best striker before netting 10 goals to help Nigeria book a spot in the AFCON2023.

Karim Adeyemi is deeply connected to his Nigerian roots.

Osimhen’s exploits for club and country recently saw him become the latest African king after he was crowned the African Player of the Year in Morocco.

The former Lille man became the first Nigerian to win the award since Kanu Nwankwo 24 years ago.
