AFC Leopards' 60th anniversary celebration includes international friendlies, community service, and cultural events, starting March 12,

AFC Leopards' 60th Anniversary preparations are in full swing, with the event's organizing committee inviting corporate organizations and well-wishers to support in making the celebrations a landmark event through partnerships and collaboration.

The festivities, set to commence on Tuesday 12 March, are designed to pay homage to the club's storied history and impressive list of achievements.

At the heart of the celebrations is a friendly match against the Spanish fourth-tier side, AE Ramassa, at the Nyayo National Stadium.

AE Ramassa, with a tradition of engaging in philanthropic activities around the world, shares AFC Leopards' spirit of community service and international camaraderie.

Dan Shikanda, the club's chairman, encapsulated the sentiment of reflection and future aspirations.

"It is a momentous time. We want to reflect as a club where we are at 60 years. Looking back at how our forefathers incepted the club, won trophies, faced relegation, and then bounced back; these are the phases we're examining as we ponder on our future trajectory," he said.

The celebrations are not just about football; they are a tribute to the community that has supported the club through thick and thin.

The official kick-off on Tuesday will include visits to children's homes, symbolizing the club's commitment to giving back to society.

This act of service precedes a series of activities planned up to Sunday 24 March, including an international friendly against AE Ramassa and a curtain-raiser match against Gor Mahia Legends.

Albert Wesonga, the club's CEO, revealed the inclusive nature of the festivities.

"On the 12th, we will cut the cake in a ceremony that welcomes our fans and celebrates our heritage. We are also organizing a dinner with Luhya leaders to honor our roots and traditions," he said.

The environmental consciousness of AFC Leopards will be on full display as club branches across the country are set to plant 2 million trees.

This initiative, coupled with a grand dinner on Friday 22 March, and inter-branch competitions on Saturday 22 March, will showcase the club's rich legacy and commitment to sustainable practices.

Leopards boasts a rich legacy since its inception in 1964, with 12 league titles, 10 domestic cups, and five CECAFA Club Championships, among other honors.
