The one-cap Kenyan international scored his first goal of the season as Ararat took apart Van FC

Kenyan midfielder Alwyn Luheni Tera was on the scoresheet as Ararat Armenia beat Van 3-0 in an Armenian Premier League match played at the Avan Acadamey Stadium on Sunday evening

Amos Nondi, a fellow Kenyan, started the game on the bench as Ararat sought to get back to winning ways after losing 2-1 to Pyunic last week.

Ararat opened the scoring through right winger Artur Serobyan, who cut with the ball inside from the right flank before unleashing a ferocious strike into the back of the net to put the hosts ahead.

They would double their lead through Tera in the second half, when a freekick by Serobyan struck the upright before causing confusion in the box, which resulted in the 25-year old taking advantage of a rebound to net his first goal of the season.

Serobyan, who had been a nuisance to the Van defense all afternoon, would then hit the final nail in their coffin when he won a penalty, before converting it himself to score his second of the night and Ararat’s third of the evening.

The result now means Ararat are fifth on nine points, just one behind league leaders Alashkert.

Tera, who can play as a right back, central defender and defensive midfielder,  has made one appearance for Kenya, a 1-1 draw against Uganda away in Kampala back in 2021.

He has made eight appearances for Ararat since the beginning of the 2023/2024 season, including in four UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying matches.
