Hatters hero Elijah Adebayo eyes Super Eagles call after starring Luton displays in the Premier League.

Luton Town's towering striker Elijah Adebayo has declared his ambition to play for the Nigerian national team the Super Eagles after a stellar season spearheading the Hatters' promotion push.

The 26-year-old, who stands an imposing 6ft 4in tall, has scored nine goals in 23 appearances following Luton's promotion to the Premier League.

Adebayo on his Nigerian heritage

The powerful frontman believes his rich Nigerian heritage and impressive form could see him earn a dream call-up to represent the Super Eagles on the international stage.

"Heritage is big for me, obviously,” he said in a video posted on X formerly Twitter.

“My mum was born in Nigeria and she came here (in England) and I have been back to Nigeria when I was young and I am obviously looking forward to go again," Adebayo said.

"My grandma lives in Nigeria, so the heritage is there. I am proud to be Nigerian and I would love to play for Nigeria. So, it's a case of my mum would be very proud if I play for Nigeria as well."

Adebayo's remarkable rise up the English football has seen him go from non-league football to becoming an influential figure in Luton's push for a remarkable promotion to the Premier League.

His physicality, aerial threat and ability to lead the line have made him a handful for PL defences this term.

The Premier League reacted to the racist abuse suffered by Elijah Adebayo on their official social media platforms.

If he can maintain those levels and fire Luton to a shock top-flight return, Adebayo's case for an international call-up would become difficult to ignore for Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

With Nigeria looking to rebound from World Cup disappointment, Adebayo's form could put him in contention as an outside shout for competitive action on the Eagles radar.
