FOOTBALL Kampala Queens cleared for 2023 CAF Women's Champions League

All 37 clubs participating in the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers, which will be held in Côte D’Ivoire, have successfully completed and met all the system's requirements.

Uganda women league champions Kampala Queens, has been given the green flag to represent the nation in the upcoming 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League.

This comes after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that all participating clubs have met the requirements of the CAF Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP) System.

CAF has pushed towards modernising the administration of its competitions, with all 54 Member Associations onboarded with the CLOP ahead of the new season of CAF Inter-Club competitions.

All 37 clubs participating in the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers, which will be held in Côte D’Ivoire, have successfully completed and met all the system's requirements.

According to the CAF regulations, all clubs must undergo a licensing process at the Member Association level to obtain a license to participate in the competition.

The Women’s Champions League will see an expanded roster this year, with four clubs added to the initial 33 from the last two seasons, underscoring the growth of the women’s game on the continent.

The first phase of the competition is set to kick off next month at the regional level before proceeding to the continental phase in Côte D’Ivoire later in the year.

Kampala Queens will host the CECAFA regional tournament at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru and Lugogo, from August 12-30.

Kampala Queens will lock horns with the Ethiopian side, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia.

Group B features Tanzanian and Kenyan giants JKT Queens and Vihiga Queens, AS Kigali and New Generation from Zanzibar.

Group A matches will be played at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, while Group B matches will take place at the KCCA stadium in Lugogo.

With the clearance to participate in the prestigious championship, Kampala Queens is poised to make a significant mark in the tournament, with the full support of its fans and the nation behind them.
