KCCA can now look forward to getting one over Vipers who have been tough to crack for them this season after setting up a cup final date with the Premier League winners.

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) have faced Vipers twice this season but come out without a win but have a chance to get their revenge in the 2025 Stanbic Uganda Cup final.

KCCA booked their place in the final following a 2-0 aggregate win over holders Kitara and can now look forward to winning the trophy they last laid their hands on in 2018.

That year, their opponents in the final were Vipers and now is the time to serve the same dose in the May 28 final at the new FUFA stadium, Kadiba.

What will add motivation to KCCA is that they have watched as Vipers have dominated in the league and in their two meetings this season, they drew 1-1 last November before losing 2-0 in February, a record they will be keen to correct in the cup final.

Vipers, meanwhile, are looking for a second domestic double having achieved the feat in 2022-23 and are encouraged by their good league run that saw them clinch the Premier League crown with a match to spare.

That therefore makes it an interesting prospect and what is more there is the incentive of continental football which KCCA will be looking for as they can seal a ticket to next season’s CAF Confederation Cup with a win since Vipers have secured qualification to the Champions League by virtue of clinching the Premier League.
