The former AFC Leopards midfielder looked assured as Gaborone United brushed aside Morupule Wanderers in a thrilling Botswana Premier League encounter.

Duncan Otieno featured for 85 minutes as Botswana giants Gaborone United managed to register their first win of the season in their second league match of the season on Wednesday night.

Morupule started quite brightly and nearly gave Gaborone United a shock. In the 22nd minute, Gaborone custodian Joseph Gojamang pulled a great save to deny Thatayaone Kgamanyane the opening goal of the match

After a tight 25 minutes, Gaborone themselves nearly took the lead when Molaodi Tlhalefang made an unfortunate trip at a crucial moment when he was supposed to bury the ball to give the Reds a lead.

Another chance came his way a minute later but he was denied by the outstretched goalkeeper Joseph Gojamang.

Gaborone finally got going in the 40th minute when  Molaodi Tlhalefang pounced inside the box to open his account in a Reds shirt.

They should have added a second four minutes later when Thatayaone Kgamanyane got another chance from close range, but Gojamang helped keep the score respectable for Morupule heading into the break.

Gaborone continued where they left off in the dying minutes of the first half by continuing to pile the pressure on Morupule, and they finally made it two through Kgamanyane, who stretched the Reds lead with a well taken goal.

The reigning league runners-up side then put the game to bed in the 83rd minute when captain Mpho Kgaswane collected the ball from halfway, evaded a challenge from a Morupule Wanderers defender and then finished clinically.

Morupule pulled a goal back in the 87th  minute through Ernest Ngwaga, but it was not enough to frustrate Gaborone from getting all the three points to get them back to winning ways.
