Manchester United are hoping to land Goncalo Ramos as Erik Ten Hag looks to strengthen his squad ahead of next season.

The Red Devils' attempt to sign Tottenham forward Harry Kane has faltered and are now putting their focus elsewhere.

They have set their sight on Benfica forward Ramos who is also looking to leave Portugal in the summer.

Ramos, a promising teenage striker for Benfica in Portugal has 25 goals this season for club and country and the club is willing to let him go at the right price

Benfica looking to cash in on Ramos

Benfica has a history of developing talents and selling them for a high price, so they have given Ramos agent Mendez the go-ahead to make a profit this summer.

Ramos, a striker for Portugal, established his reputation by starting in place of Cristiano Ronaldo before netting three goals against Switzerland in the World Cup round of 16.

Since then, he has stepped up at Benfica to fill Darwin Nunez's shoes after the Uruguayan's £85 million summer transfer to Liverpool.

According to the Mirror, Benfica are demanding a comparable deal for at least £80 million plus add-ons if they are to let the Portuguese leave this summer.

With Marcus Rashford leading the team in goals scored with 30, far outpacing Bruno Fernandes' total of 14, United manager Erik Ten Hag needs more firepower and has identified Ramos as his target.

United looking at other targets Man Utd

Manchester United are also in the transfer market for a forward and has targeted several players across Europe.

Victor Osimhen's progress at Napoli has been monitored by United, but the Serie A champions won't contemplate selling until offered a large sum.

Rasmus Hojlund of Atlanta, and Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt, are also on United's radar as less expensive options as a result.

The Red Devils are also looking to sign Ramos from Benfica and his international team-mate Fernandes heaped praise on him publicly as he speaks about a potential move to Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes told Sport TV as reported by the Mirror, "The best always come in handy, be it Goncalo or another player. I think he has all the qualities to play in the Premier League, and when I say Premier League I also mean Manchester United.

"I think he could become a great reference in the coming years, but it's still not in my hands to be sports director."
