Gor Mahia's coach hints at mid-season transfers, keeping fans guessing as they lead the league heading into the Christmas break.

As the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) heads into its Christmas break, Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry has dropped a tantalizing hint about potential January transfers.

The reigning champions, who have maintained an impeccable unbeaten record this season, are eyeing reinforcements as they gear up for the upcoming mid-season transfer window.

With the transfer window set to open from January 8 to February 8, 2024, McKinstry has left fans and pundits speculating about the exciting prospects that lie ahead for the club.

In an interview, McKinstry hinted at the possibility of not one but possibly two new additions to the Gor Mahia roster.

"We have great depth this season, and there might be just one, or possibly two additions, as we have our targets set for July," McKinstry revealed.

"If one or two of these players become available earlier, we can consider integrating them into the team. However, if that doesn't happen, we are more than satisfied with our current group of players."

Gor Mahia's stellar performance this season has kept them firmly at the top of the league table. With an unbeaten streak, including one win and seven draws in their previous 16 games, the team appears formidable.

McKinstry expressed his contentment with the current squad, highlighting the depth and talent available within the team.

"Ultimately, our team is exceptionally strong. We have 25 to 28 individuals in the locker room, each of whom could be considered a starting player, and they all feel disappointed," McKinstry noted.

"If you look at the players who were on the bench against Bandari, such as Rogers Mugisha, Ernest Wendo, and Patrick Kaddu, you'll realize they possess immense talent and experience."

The Northern Irishman also pointed out that Patrick Kaddu, who has even competed in an Africa Cup of Nations tournament, finds himself on the bench, demonstrating the quality of players at his disposal.

Gor Mahia's recent narrow 1-0 victory against Bandari FC further solidified their position at the top of the league, extending their lead to five points ahead of Posta Rangers, who have collected 29 points so far this season.
