Nigeria's Moses Simon has contributed seven goals in 11 matches for Nantes in the Ligue 1 this season.

Nigerian international Moses Simon was on target, but it was not enough as Nantes suffered another setback in Ligue 1.

Nantes were visitors at Metz, who proved too good for Simon and his teammates following a 3-1 win for the hosts on Sunday.

Moses Simon's Standout moment

After a brilliant start from the home side, rewarded with an early opener from Kevin Van Den Kerkhof, Simon came to his side's rescue nine minutes later.

The 28-year-old, playing in his 11th match of the season, netted a brilliant goal from point blank to draw Nantes level in the 12th minute.

Moses’ goal against Metz was his third of the season, with the Super Eagles now a contributor of seven goals (3 goals, 4 assists) for Nantes in the league this season.

Metz respond to Simon’s goal

Despite Simon’s goal giving Nantes new belief, their joy was short-lived as Metz responded superbly.

Simon Elisor restored the lead for the home side heading into the break before Joel Asoro wrapped things up five minutes from time.

In what is a cruel twist of fate, Moses Simon’s heroics were ultimately not enough to earn Nantes at least a point.

The result means Nantes have now lost back-to-back matches in the Ligue 1.
