Jose Mourinho finally won one of his battles against match officials after losing his two previous cases against referees.

Roma coach Jose Mourinho has emerged victorious in his case against Italian Serie A referee Marco Serra after the official was found guilty of insulting the Portuguese tactician.

Mourinho and Serra clashed on the touchline in Roma’s 2-1 loss to Cremonse in Serie A in the just-concluded season.

The altercation between the pair forced the centre ref to send Mourinho off in that match at Cremona.

However, following the match, Mourinho hit out at Serra, accusing the Turin-born official of using inappropriate words against him.

The Italian Football Federation and federal prosecutor opened an investigation into the situation following Mourinho’s comment.

Serra was subsequently suspended after he was found guilty, with Mourinho also receiving a two-match touchline ban.

However, the former Chelsea manager finally received justice after Serra was sacked by the Italian referees association (AIA).

According to Sport Mediaset via Roma Press, Serra will no longer work as a referee in Italy, bringing an end to his career.

The decision is a win for Mourinho in his battles against referees. The 60-year-old had been on the receiving end of match bans for his comments against other referees before the Serra decision.

Mourinho was banned for four games following his behaviour and comments towards Anthony Taylor after Roma’s Europa League final loss to Sevilla last month.

Meanwhile, he is also set to miss the first two matchdays of Serie A next season after he was punished and fined £43,000 for branding Serie A referee Daniele Chiffi as the 'worst official’ he has ever come across.
