Ugandan forward Rogers Mugisha tasted his first Meshemeji derby victory, playing a significant role in steering Gor Mahia to an emphatic 2-0 victory over their arch-rivals, AFC Leopards.

The monumental win, unfolding at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, in the 94th edition of the derby, further solidified Gor Mahia's legacy in the Kenyan Premier League.

Gor Mahia, right from the outset, exhibited aggressive gameplay, making it clear that they were on the hunt for an early lead.

Their diligence bore fruit in the 25th minute when Benson Omalla scored, sending a pass looping past the Ingwe's goalkeeper, Levis Opiyo.

The stellar gameplay persisted, culminating in Omalla's second goal at the 57th minute, with an assist from Sibomana.

AFC Leopards, despite their spirited attempts and mounting pressure on their adversaries, found themselves unable to pierce through Gor Mahia's goalkeeper Kelvin Omondi.

Omondi's quick reflexes and multiple saves effectively staved off any chance the Leopards had at making a comeback.
