Ghana Mukwala scores in third consecutive game

The 24-year-old has managed four goals in the Ghana Premier League this season.

Uganda Cranes striker Steven Mukwala’s recent scoring form continued with a brace as his side Asante Kotoko edged rivals Hearts of Oak 3-2 in the Ghana Premier League at Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

The former URA FC player was scoring for the third consecutive game, having also scored against Berekum Chelsea and Legon Cities.

Mukwala’s Asante Kotoko fell behind in the 39th minute when Linda Mtange opened the scoring for the hosts.

Isaac Oppong levelled matters at the stroke of halftime before the Ex-Vipers SC forward netted in the 56th minute for the visitors to lead for the first time in this thrilling contest.

The former Maroons FC goal poacher would complete his double in the 74th minute, stretching his side’s lead to 3-1.

Martin Karakiri pulled one back for Hearts of Oak, but in the 94th minute, it was already too late for them to find an equalizer.

The 24-year-old has managed four goals in the Ghana Premier League this season.

Asante Kotoko is positioned seventh on the 18-team log with 22 points, four a drift of leaders Samartex after 14 games.

On the other hand, Hearts of Oak occupy the ninth position with 16 points after playing the same number of games.

Mukwala’s Asante Kotoko will return to league action on the eve of Christmas on the road against Great Olympics on Sunday, December 24.
