Nigeria's football stars, including Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, and Chiamaka Nnadozie, faced mixed results abroad, with standout performances overshadowed by defeats and benchings across Europe’s top leagues.

It was a weekend of mixed fortunes for Nigeria’s football stars plying their trade abroad, with Super Eagles and Super Falcons players experiencing highs and lows across Europe’s top leagues.

In Turkey, Victor Osimhen couldn’t add to his impressive 24-goal tally in the Super Lig but was decisive in Galatasaray’s 2-0 victory over Trabzonspor, bringing them within two points of the title.

Meanwhile, Bright Osayi-Samuel came off the bench as Fenerbahce reignited the title race with a commanding win over Basaksehir, just a day before Osimhen’s heroics.

In Italy, Samuel Chukwueze made an impact off the bench for AC Milan, delivering a stunning assist, his first of the Serie A season, in a 3-1 win against Bologna.

Victor Osimhen continues to enjoy a beautiful bond with Galatasaray fans.

However, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru struggled in his first start since April 13 for Lazio, failing to create any chances in a 1-1 draw against 10-man Juventus.

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye couldn’t replicate his previous heroics, as Udinese suffered a surprising home defeat to relegated Monza.

Maduka Okoye conceded twice against Inter Milan.

In France, a Super Falcons showdown saw Jennifer Echegini’s PSG dominate Chiamaka Nnadozie’s Paris 3-0, with Nnadozie conceding three goals, while Rasheedat Ajibade and Edna Imade made their marks with a goal each in Spain’s Liga F. Rinsola Babajide also scored for her 10th of the season.

Moses Simon played the full 90 minutes for Nantes but couldn’t secure a win in their 1-1 draw at Auxerre, where Gabriel Osho watched from the sidelines. Cyriel Dessers scored for the third consecutive match for Rangers.

In Spain, a potential Super Eagles clash between Umar Sadiq’s Valencia and Chrisantus Uche’s Getafe fizzled out, with Valencia winning 3-0 while both Nigerians remained unused, Sadiq on the bench and Uche serving a suspension.

Germany was tough for Victor Boniface, who was benched for the second consecutive game in Bayer Leverkusen’s 4-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund, Xabi Alonso’s final match as boss. Nathan Tella started as a striker but couldn’t prevent the defeat.

For Naija Stars Abroad, it was a weekend of flashes of brilliance overshadowed by missed opportunities and tough results.
