Sergio Tragil was not entirely happy with the bye and revealed that he would have loved to see his team playing in the first round.

While KCCA FC fans celebrated the team’s first-round bye in the CAF Confederation Preliminaries, their new head coach would rather have his team in action from the start.

Sergio Tragil was not entirely happy with the bye and revealed that he would have loved to see his team playing in the first round.

“We only play the second round, so I think for some of the people might be happy because it’s one step ahead to be in the group stage,” Tragil revealed after the draw held on Tuesday.

“But for us as competition guys, we would love to play the first round, but, like I said, it’s the way that it is done in the CAF Confederation, so we just have to wait for our opponents, which will be from Libya or Tunisia.” He added.

The Kasasiro Boys will face the winner between Tunisian side Olympique de Béja and Abu Salim from Libya.

“Whichever the club that will come, it will be tough, but we will be ready for sure.”

Tragil and KCCA will be looking to replicate Mike Mutebi’s heroics on the continent but must start by making it to the group stages of the competition.

The Portuguese tactician believes his new side got the bye because they have a big name and must now prove to everyone that it is the reality.

“It shows that KCCA has a big name on the continent. Since we are not playing the first round, it shows that we are big, but being big is not only by words, we need to show on the pitch.”

The club will travel for the first leg in Tunisia or Libya between September 15th and 17th before hosting a fortnight later.
