Arsenal qualify for the semifinal of the UEFA Champions League after defeating Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu

The Gunners took a 3-0 advantage over Spain for the second leg to face Madrid and brimming with a lot of confidence.

The Madrid team attempted to play mind games before the game by claiming they were planning a "Remontada," meaning a comeback.

However, Arsenal, who have not conceded three goals in a long while, shocked the host, defeating them 2-1 at home.

As it happened

Mikel Arteta has named the same starting eleven that defeated Real Madrid 3-0 in the first leg at the Emirates.

Real Madrid's starting lineup featured Lucas Vazquez at right back and Federico Valverde in midfield, with Carlo Ancelotti making two changes to the team.

Arsenal started the game well and even got a penalty in the first 15 minutes, but Bukayo Saka’s Panenka was saved by Thibaut Courtois.

Real Madrid also got a penalty shout, which the referee gave but was overturned by the VAR. Both teams headed into halftime with the score at 0-0.

Arsenal entered the second half and within the first 10 minutes, Saka made amends after the penalty miss with the opening goal, but immediately after the restart, Vinicius equalised following Saliba’s loss of concentration.

However, Arsenal silenced the Bernabéu with a late winning goal from Martinelli after he was put through on goal by Mikel Merino.

Arsenal held on for the remaining five minutes of injury time to seal a 2-1 win over noisy Real Madrid and book a meeting with PSG.
