The seven-time UPL champions are now winless in eight games, but Odoch believes that starting the second round with a point was positive.

Express FC head coach James Odoch was disappointed with the late equaliser his side conceded in a 1-1 draw against UPDF FC in the Uganda Premier League at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Saturday.

It looked like Express had finally won a league game after eight successive attempts when Allan Kayiwa headed home in the 75th minute, but, Oscar Musa Aluma ensured that it did not happen with an 89th-minute leveler.

Still, Oscar Musa Aluma ensured that it did not happen with an 89th-minute leveler.

"That was such an avoidable goal that we conceded because of lack of concentration in defence," an anguished Odoch told the club media after the game.

"We are supposed to defend better, especially in such moments, so going forward, we ought to improve."

Aluma caught Express centre backs Derrick Ngoobi and Isa Lumu off guard to score on his debut for the Army side.

It was the first time the Red Eagles conceded in such fashion and late this season. It was a similar situation against UPDF in the reverse fixture and against Maroons FC, among other games.

The seven-time UPL champions are now winless in eight games, but Odoch believes that starting the second round with a point was positive.

"UPDF is one of the most stubborn teams on our side and shall take a point and build on that going into our next game as we try to improve on several issues, including the players' fitness levels," the tactician noted.

The 2020/21 winners remained ninth with 18 points after 15 games, and their next league game is away to URA FC on February 26th.

For now, the focus will shift to the Uganda Cup, where they will host Big League side Lugazi FC at Wankulukuku on Sunday.
