English forward Jadon Sancho has temporarily halted his Manchester United nightmare after returning to Borussia Dortmund on loan

He has returned to Borussia Dortmund, his former club, on a loan deal from Manchester United for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.

"When I came into the dressing room today, it felt like 'coming home'," Sancho said, before continuing, "I know the club inside and out, I've always been very close with the fans here, and I've never lost contact with those in charge.

"I can't wait to see my team-mates again, go out on the pitch, play football with a smile on my face, prepare goals, score goals and help qualify for the Champions League,"

Dortmund's financial contribution to Sancho's wages

Dortmund's financial contribution to the loan deal is around €3.5 million, with potential additional costs based on performance. Sancho's contract with Manchester United, which extends until 2026 with an option for an additional year, does not include a buyout clause in the loan agreement, as per Bundesliga

Dortmund, currently positioned fifth in the Bundesliga, anticipates Sancho's return to boost their performance, particularly in their quest for Champions League qualification. Sancho's familiarity with the team and league is expected to be an asset in this pursuit.
