The former Gor Mahia forward gears up to face four Al Duhail teammates in an upcoming international friendly against Qatar.

Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga is gearing up to face off against four of his own Al Duhail teammates, adding a unique twist to the anticipated clash between Kenya and Qatar.

The international friendly is scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 7, at the renowned Al-Janoub Stadium – a site that resonates with football enthusiasts as one of the venues that showcased the grandeur of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Qatar national football team, led by coach Carlos Queiroz, has strategically selected a quartet of Al Duhail players to join their ranks for the match.

The lineup includes Salaha Zakariah in the goalkeeping department, defender Youssef Ayman, midfielder Karim Boudiaf, and striker Almoez Ali.

Olunga is entering the match on the back of an impressive performance streak, having netted goals in each of Al Duhail's three league matches.

The former Gor Mahia striker kicked off his goal-scoring spree with a crucial strike in their 2-1 victory over Al Ahli on matchday one.

Olunga continued his impressive form by securing a brace in their commanding 4-1 victory against Muaither last week. Notably, he contributed a goal in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Al Arab on Saturday, solidifying his reputation as a prolific goal scorer.

On the league's top scorers' chart, Olunga is jointly holding the second position with a remarkable four goals to his name. He shares this spot with Congo Brazzaville's Guy Mbenza of Muaither.

The dynamic duo is chasing closely behind Algerian talent Yacine Brahimi, who represents Al-Gharafa and currently leads the chart with five goals.

Following the Kenya-Qatar friendly, Qatar's national team is set to face off against Russia on September 12, marking another exciting encounter at the Al Janoub Stadium.

The reigning Asian champions are leaving no stone unturned as they prepare for the highly anticipated AFC Asian Cup scheduled for January 2024.

With their sights set on victory, Qatar is determined to make their home advantage count when they face off against Lebanon on January 12, 2024, during the tournament hosted in their own country.
