Osimhen has had an excellent 2023 for Napoli, leading the club to a first Scudetto in over 30 years, and winning the Serie A Golden Boot in the process.

Osimhen was also in fine form for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, finishing as the top scorer in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification campaign, with 10 goals.
His performances and remarkable goalscoring for club and country over the course of the 2022-23 football season have seen him nominated for the prestigious Ballon d'Or.

Peseiro, in a recent interview, (via II Napoli Online) proclaimed that Osimhen has all it takes to win the prestigious award.
“He (Osimhen) can surely win the Ballon d’Or in the future. He’s not lacking anything to do it. He has different characteristics than other players that are at the top at this moment, but he scores a lot as well.”
