The Porto accused Arteta of "insulting his family" in Spanish, but it was not the first time he was accusing a Premier League coach following a defeat, having also clashed with Guardiola and Tuchel

Porto head coach Sergio Conceicao accused Mikel Arteta of insulting his family after the Gunners knocked them out of the Champions League on penalties, but it was not the first time he has accused a Premier League manager of misconduct.

Conceciao has also clashed with Pep Guardiola of Manchester City and former Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel following defeats in the 2020/2021 season.

Conceicao accused Arteta of insulting him during a fractious night at the Emirates Stadium, as Arsenal reached the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time since 2010 with a dramatic penalty shootout victory.

Conceicao and Arteta clashed visibly at the match's conclusion, with Conceicao pointing his finger at the Arsenal manager.

In his subsequent press conference, Conceicao claimed that Arteta had insulted him in Spanish during the game. Arteta chose not to comment on the altercation, focusing instead on praising his team's achievement.

It's understood he strongly denied the accusation after being informed of Conceicao’s claim.

Speaking after Tuesday night’s defeat, Conceicao said: “The result was unjust. The team [Porto] deserved to go through. What Arteta said, towards the bench in Spanish, he insulted my family. He should focus on training his team.”

It is not the only time he has accused a Premier League coach of making insults.

In 2020, after a match against Manchester City, he accused Guardiola of "speaking about our country using ugly words" and criticized Guardiola's attitude as "extremely unpleasant."

Additionally, Conceicao made a similar complaint against Tuchel following Porto's Champions League quarter-final defeat by Chelsea in April 2021.

Conceicao also made a similar complaint against Thomas Tuchel following Porto’s Champions League quarter-final defeat by Chelsea in April 2021.

“I was insulted by this gentleman [Tuchel] who is next door. I didn’t quite understand. I heard some insults, but it’s over... it’s not pretty and my irritation in the end had to do with it. I didn’t even address it.”

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya emerged as the hero in the shootout, securing Arteta's side's victory. Raya's two saves followed Leandro Trossard's goal for Arsenal in the first half.
