Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum has accused the NFF of owing him up to eight months in salaries as well as owing members of the squad for up to two years

Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum has revealed the struggles he has faced to wrestle his salary from the clutches of the head honchos of the Nigerian Football Federation, including the current arrears owed by the federation.

Speaking on the ‘On the Whistle’ podcast, Waldrum said, “It’s been nothing but a constant issue. Up until about three weeks ago, I had been owed 14 months' salary. And then, three weeks ago, they paid seven months of that salary to catch me up.”

The Super Falcons coach also noted that such a scenario was not a new development and stated that it had been a constant battle to be paid his fair wage.

“Before that, the year-and-a-half, two years before that, the salary was the same thing,” he said, continuing, “I’d go five or six months without anything and then they’d pay you a little bit of it. Starting in July will be eight months behind on salaries.”

Waldrum also noted that the indignation was not peculiar to him alone, as members of the Super Falcons playing staff had also been subjected to similar hardships.

The 66-year-old coach noted that some players were being owed money dating back to invitations to the national team that happened two years ago.

He said, “We still have players that haven’t been paid per diem and bonuses for two years ago when we came to America and played in the summer series against the USA, Portugal, and Jamaica. We still have players that haven’t been caught up to speed with that.

“My understanding is that players got paid finally many months later for AFCON, but for the other events we’ve been at, they haven’t been paid. It’s a travesty.”

Despite the salary debacle, Waldrum has said that he is still committed to the Super Falcons and is expected to be at the helm of the team when they play their opening FIFA World Cup Group B game against Olympic Champions Canada on the 21st of July.
