Like Dani Alves, another Brazilian footballer will be locked up for rape.

Days after granting an exclusive interview regarding his 2013 gang rape case, former Manchester City and Milan player Robinho will confront the consequences of his actions as Brazil's Supreme court (STJ) mandates his imprisonment for a nine-year sentence.

The retired footballer, convicted in 2017 for raping a young woman at a Milan nightclub alongside four other men, has been embroiled in a legal battle to avoid extradition to Italy, where the sentence was issued.

Despite efforts to evade accountability, the Brazilian judiciary's ruling this week will ensure Robinho serves his sentence in his homeland, marking a significant development in the high-profile case.

GE globo reported that the STJ delivered a verdict this Wednesday ruling that the 40-year-old will have to go behind bars.

It was a majority decision, although two members of the Supreme Court voting against nine.

Robinho spent four seasons at Milan from 2010 to 2014 and it was during this time at the club that the rape occurred.

The ex-Real Madrid star went on Record TV on Sunday to suggest he was convicted “unjustly” because of “racism” in Italy.

Robinho's Defence said that he will appeal to the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

The Defence also said that the former Manchester City and Real Madrid star is at the disposal of Justice.

The execution of the immediate arrest will be up to the authorities of Santos, where Robinho is.

As Robinho prepares to appeal to the Federal Supreme Court, his fate lies in the hands of Brazilian authorities, poised to execute the mandated arrest and initiate legal proceedings.
