Rwandan cabinet last week passed a strategic partnership to host the African Super League headquarters in Kigali.
The Super League was an initiative of the CAF and FIFA presidents Patrice Motsepe and Gianni Infantino that was officially launched a year ago in Tanzania.
The competition, whose details have been discreetly kept, is expected to kick off later this August and run for four months.

“It is true that the African Super League will have headquarters in Kigali,” Zephanie Niyonkuru, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, confirmed the developments to Rwandan media.

Kigali has been the centre of attraction, hosting the 73rd FIFA Congress that saw Infantino re-elected as the world football boss earlier in March.
The city recently hosted the Basket Africa League and the 2023 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket.
Format
The inaugural super league is expected to kick off in October with a total of eight selected teams.
They will be pooled in two groups, with the matches scheduled to kick off on October 20th and the final on November 11th.
The teams invited include Denis Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns, Egyptian giants Al Ahly, Wydad Casablanca (Morocco) and Tunisian giants Esperance.
The others are TP Mazembe (DR Congo), Enyimba (Nigeria), Atletico Petroleos de Luanda (Angola) and Simba from Tanzania.
